The following information contains detailed descriptions for the metrics available in the Optical category of the Pulse module.
AR Capture Rate (By Billing)
The AR (Anti-Reflective) Capture Rate metric is an indicator of how consistently a practice focuses on recommending high-end eye wear choices. You can use this metric to identify areas where your practice can increase revenue per patient while providing the best vision options for the patient.
- Refer to AR Capture Rate (By Order) if your practice does not associate invoices to orders or does not use V2750 when billing anti-reflective coatings.
- The data displayed is the number of eyeglass orders billed with V2750, divided by, the number of eyeglass orders.
- The Location filter references the location associated to the order.
- Numerator:
- The number of orders included in the denominator where a billable item for V2750 is present.
- Order must be associated to at least one non-voided invoice.
- Billable item must contain code V2750. The item must be included in the Assigned or Unassigned tab of the order.
- Billable item for V2750 cannot be listed under the Non-Billable tab.
- Denominator:
- Total number of eyeglass orders within the designated date range.
- Order status cannot be Canceled or New.
- Because order status can be edited, the date will use the FIRST Approved Status Start Date. This information can be viewed in the Order Status History of an order.

The AR (Anti-Reflective) Capture Rate metric is an indicator of how consistently a practice focuses on recommending high-end eye wear choices. You can use this metric to identify areas where your practice can increase revenue per patient while providing the best vision options for the patient.
- The data displayed is the number of eyeglass orders with anti-reflective coating, divided by, the number of eyeglass orders.
- Numerator:
- The number of orders included in the denominator where a billable item for V2750 is present, OR, the AR Coating field within the eyeglass order must be populated.
- Billable item for V2750 cannot be listed under the Non-Billable tab.
- AR Coating field within the order (Rx and Lens Information > Coatings section) must not be left blank or indicate 'select.'
- Denominator:
- Total number of eyeglass orders within the designated date range.
- Order status cannot be Canceled or New.
- Because order status can be edited, the date will use the FIRST Approved Status Start Date. This information can be viewed in the Order Status History of an order.
Eyeglass Capture Rate (By Billing)
The Eyeglass Capture Rate metric is a key indicator of health for most eye care practices. It measures the effectiveness of converting prescriptions into eyeglass sales. This metric uses a unique method to calculate Capture Rate that allows you to monitor success of existing processes or marketing endeavors. In Pulse, a person with a prescription is matched to an order to generate Eyeglass Capture rate. Instead of just comparing number of exams to number of glasses sold, Pulse gives you the actual conversion of prescriptions you write to eyeglasses sold.
- The data displayed is the number of patients from the denominator with an eyeglass order, divided by, the number of patients with an authorized eyeglass prescription.
- The Location filter references the primary location of the patient as listed in Demographics.
- The Provider filter references the provider associated to the prescription.
- The capture is included in the date range for the prescription associated to the order. E.g., If a patient is provided an eyeglass prescription in October and purchases glasses in January, the capture is included in the appropriate October date range.
- If the patient has both an internal and external prescription in the denominator (both with the same Auth Date), orders meeting the numerator logic that are associated to the external prescription will also be included in the numerator.
- Refer to Eyeglass Capture Rate (By Order) if your practice does not associate invoices to orders.
- Numerator:
- The number of patients included in the denominator.
- The prescription associated to the order must be from a prescription from the denominator.
- Order must be an eyeglass order.
- Order status cannot be Canceled or New.
- Order must be associated with at least one non-voided invoice.
- Order must have at least one assigned billable item.
- The assigned item must be from the Eyeglass Frame category and not be marked as non-billable. Note: Because this is an Eyeglass Order, it is assumed it contains lenses. A Frame Only order should be created if lenses are not included.
- If the order is a Change Order (this includes orders created using the Change or Remake buttons), the metric will reference the original order that is linked to the Change Order to determine if Capture Rate criteria has been met. Capture Rate is not inflated when Change Order is used.
- Denominator:
- The number of patients who have an authorized eyeglass prescription.
- Patient count resets each day. E.g., If the patient had a prescription that was authorized on 04/12/20xx and a prescription that was authorized on 04/13/20xx, and the Date Range was 04/12-04/13, the patient would be counted in the denominator twice.
- Prescription must not have a status of Discontinued.
- Prescription Type must be Internal.
- Prescription must have an Auth Date.
- Prescription Auth Date is the date used to determine if the patient should be included in the date range.
