Remember: If you are required to report, in order to avoid a negative payment adjustment in 2025, your 2023 MIPS overall score must meet or exceed the 75 points performance threshold for 2023 MIPS. Scores above 75 may result in a positive payment adjustment.
Please see the following CMS resource for reference
Reminder: Preliminary Scoring No Longer Available During Submission
As a reminder, CMS is eliminating the preliminary score and preliminary category-level scores from submission beginning with data submission for the 2023 performance year. You’ll be able to preview your 2023 final score in mid-June 2024 and view your 2025 MIPS payment adjustment information in mid-August 2024.
The process of MIPS data submission to Medicare can be summarized in a few steps:
1. Check and understand your eligibility on the Quality Payment Program website.
Entering your NPI in the participation status tool allows you to understand if Medicare is requiring you to submit 2023 data and, if not, if you have a path to opt-in to the program and be considered from Medicare in the future.
2. Register for Quality Payment Program (QPP) portal access.
A username and password are needed to access the Quality Payment Program portal for your practice. If you have not established them before or haven’t used them in a while, you’ll need to re-register. This can be done by following the instructions for CMS’ HARP system. Please note that the preceding link will initiate a zip file download to your computer containing series guidance documents.
3. Use the MIPS – PI (Stage 3) scorecard to analyze and collect 90 days of 2023 data.
*Note for 2023 MIPS: Clinicians in small practices will have their MIPS - PI category score automatically reweighted and do not need to submit data for this category.
This article offers text and video discussion of how to use the MIPS – PI (Stage 3) scorecard to configure and gather the data needed. How do I use the MIPS - PI (Stage 3) Scorecard?
4. Use the MIPS – Quality scorecard to analyze and collect data for all of 2023.

5. Use RevolutionEHR’s MIPS Data Submission Guide.
Our guide offers a step-by-step walkthrough of data collection and upload to CMS. This guide will be available upon CMS’ opening of the 2023 data submission period in January 2024. Link to guide at the bottom of this page.
6. Consider partnering with RevAspire to offload ALL of the above.
