Contact lens vendors sometimes release expanded prescription parameters for lenses that are available for import via SmartFlow. The new parameters may be available to order directly from the vendor, but the SmartFlow catalog requires an update to include this information, which can take time. If you attempt to manually input a value that is not available on a contact lens prescription, the field will not accept the value and does not display information to indicate your entry was not valid.
To create these prescriptions, manually add a duplicate product to your practice catalog for the newly released parameters. We recommend the product is named so you can easily distinguish it from an imported product, e.g. Precision 1 Expanded Parameters. Within the prescription, the provider must select the manually added lens, which allows the expanded parameter to be accepted by the system.
Important Note: After the SmartFlow catalog is updated with the newly released parameters, deactivate the manually added product.
