Appointments cannot be started prior to the day of the appointment, and it is strongly recommended that appointments are not started until the patient physically arrives at the office for their scheduled appointment.
Some components of an encounter can be found within the patient's file and will allow for data entry prior to the starting of the appointment. The following are components found within the patient's file and contain editable data that will automatically populate into an encounter.
- Demographics
- Insurance
- Consents
- Rx
- Diagnosis History
- Orders - Medical
- Allergies
- Family Medical Hx
- Family Ocular Hx
- Surgery Hx
Additional Information
For practices that are in the process of changing systems and were not able to convert their EHR data from their previous system, it can be advantageous to enter additional known data prior to the patient's arrival. In that situation, a prep encounter template can be configured that contains the tests and screens the practice would like to enter prior to seeing the patient. This encounter can be started on the fly from the patient's file to allow for the entry of data that can then be pulled forward to the true encounter during the patient's exam.
