A 'Contact' can be created when a Policy Holder or Guarantor is required, but the Guarantor or Policy Holder needed is not a patient in the practice and, thus, does not have a patient's file. It will be the preference of the practice whether to add that person as a contact or simply add a patient's file for that person. If that person is the Guarantor or Policy Holder for more than one patient, it would be more efficient to add a patient's file. Once configured as a patient, they can be set as the Guarantor or Policy Holder for any patients in the system. If adding as a Contact, they would need to be added as a contact in each patient's file where appropriate.
