A 'Contact' can be created when a Policy Holder or Guarantor is required, but Guarantor or Policy Holder needed is not a patient in the practice and has no patient file. It will be the preference of the practice whether to add that person as a contact or simply add a patient file for that person. If that person is the Guarantor or Policy Holder for more than one patient, it would be more efficient to add a patient file. Once configured as a patient file, they can be set as the Guarantor or Policy Holder for any patients in the system. If adding as a Contact, they would need to be added as a contact in each patient file where appropriate.
Add Contact
- Access Patients > search for and open a patient > Family/Contacts > Contacts.
- Click 'Add Contact.'
- Complete all required fields.
- Click 'Update.'
Note: If the Contact will be designated as the Policy Holder for the patient, the policy information must first be added to the Contact file. An Insurance Details tab will display when 'Update' is selected for a new Contact.
