Add Sunglasses to Inventory

If your state charges tax on non-prescription sunglass frames at the same rate of tax for prescription frames, enter your non-prescription sunglass frames in the Eyeglass Frames category. You do not need to follow any of the subsequent steps in this article.

If your state charges a different tax rate for non-prescription sunglass frames than the tax rate it charges for prescription eyeglass frames, there are two options for entering the non-prescription sunglass frames detailed below. 

Instructions

Option 1 - Most Common Method

1. Access Inventory > Products.
2. Click the + icon, select Add Product.
3. Complete the product details using Eyeglass Frames as the category. Select the appropriate tax for your state's rules on prescription eyeglass frames. 
4. Click 'Add Product.'
5. If you track your physical inventory using RevolutionEHR, complete the product's Options, Attributes, and Inventory. 
6. Return to the Products dashboard.
7. Click the + icon, select Add Product.
8. Complete the product details using Non Rx Eyeglass Frames as the category. Select the appropriate tax for your state's rules for non-prescription sunglass frames. Note: This is the SAME frame you entered in step #3. You do NOT enter physical inventory information.
9. Click 'Add Product.'
10. Return to the Products dashboard.

Instructions for Sunglass Frame Sold for Non-Rx Sunglass Use

1. Add sunglasses from the Non-Rx Eyeglass frames category to an invoice.
2. If you track your physical inventory within RevolutionEHR, manually remove the sunglass frame sold from physical inventory in the Eyeglass Frames category. 

Option 2

1. Access Inventory > Products.
2. Click the + icon, select Add Product.
3. Complete the product details using Eyeglass Frames as the category. Select the appropriate tax for your state's rules on prescription eyeglass frames. 
4. Click 'Add Product.'
5. If you track your physical inventory using RevolutionEHR, complete the product's Options, Attributes, and Inventory. 
6. Return to the Products dashboard - entering the sunglass frame is complete.

Instructions for Sunglass Frame Sold for Non-Rx Sunglass Use

1. Access Inventory > Products > search for and open the frame.
2. Update the Tax field to your state's tax rate for non-prescription sunglass frames.
3. Click 'Save.'
4. Create an invoice or an order, add the non-prescription sunglass frame from the Eyeglass Frame category. 
5. Once the frame has been added to an invoice, complete the following:
   1. Access Inventory > Products > search for and open the frame.
   2. Update the Tax field to your state's tax rate for prescription eyeglass frames.
   3. Click 'Save.'
