Emergency Contact information for a patient can be configured by accessing the Family/Contacts component. The following instructions are provided for the multiple ways the emergency contact can be added to the system.
- Family/Contacts that are setup as Primary are displayed with a star. See Example
- Only one family/contact can be setup as Primary.
- If there is a primary setup and you select another family/contact as primary, the original primary is automatically unchecked and thus overridden.
Instructions
Family/Contacts - Add Emergency Contact
- Access Patients > search for and open the patient > Family/Contacts.
- Click the + Family Member button. Note: Contacts can be added by following similar instructions using + Contact.
- In the Select a Patient modal, search for the patient that will be the emergency contact.
- Highlight the appropriate patient.
- Click the checkbox beside Emergency Contact. See Example
- Click the checkbox for Set as Primary if appropriate.
- Click 'Save.'
Family/Contacts - Edit an existing family member
- Access Patients > search for and open the patient > Family/Contacts.
- Select the family member that will be the emergency contact.
- In the Edit Family Member modal, click the checkbox for Emergency Contact. See Example
- Click the checkbox for Set as Primary if appropriate.
- Click 'Save.'
Family Quick Add
- Access Patients > search for and open the patient.
- Displayed on the Patient Summary screen, from within the Family/Contacts pod, click the + icon.
- Select Add Family Member. See Example
- In the Family Quick Add modal, complete all required fields.
- Click the checkbox beside Emergency Contact.
- Click the checkbox for Set as Primary if appropriate.
- Click 'Save.'
Additional Information
Emergency contact information is displayed in the Demographics component. Access the patient's file > Demographics > Additional Information > Emergency Contacts. See Example
