Instructions
- Access Admin > Employee/Roles > Employees > open the employee > Login Details.
- Click 'Reset Password.' This action creates a system generated temporary password. Provide this password information to the employee. Note: The temporary password will need to be entered as the current password when the employee is resetting their password.
- Click 'Save.' The employee can now sign into RevolutionEHR using the new system generated temporary password; they will be prompted to create a new password.

Troubleshooting: Temporary Password Not Working
If an employee receives the error 'Invalid username and/or password' after a password reset, work through the following checks:
1. Confirm the Reset Was Saved
After clicking 'Reset Password,' you must click Save. If the Save button was not clicked, the reset did not take effect and the temporary password will not work.
2. Temporary Password Must Be Entered in the 'Current Password' Field
This is the most commonly missed step. When the employee logs in using the temporary password, a new window will appear prompting them to set a new password. The employee must enter the temporary password in the 'Current Password' field in that window — not a previous password.
3. Use Copy/Paste on the Same Computer
Perform the password reset and have the employee log in on the same computer so the temporary password can be copied and pasted directly. This eliminates errors from manual typing, extra spaces, or capitalization mistakes.
4. Check for Browser-Saved Passwords
If the browser has an old password saved, it may auto-fill and override the new temporary password. Clear any saved RevolutionEHR credentials from the browser's password manager before attempting login. RevolutionEHR does not recommend saving login credentials in the browser.
5. Check for Account Lockout
After 5 failed login attempts, the account is locked. If lockout has occurred, the previous temporary password is no longer valid. The System Admin must perform a new password reset, and the employee should use the newly generated temporary password.
6. Perform a Fresh Reset if Needed
If the temporary password still does not work after the above steps, perform a new password reset, copy the new temporary password carefully, and have the employee attempt login immediately.
