If your practice requires payments to be applied by line item, there are two reports available to assist in verifying the payments for services. Both reports provide the payments for the categories CPT and Other services. The reports also provide information on products, however, they can be exported to Excel and filtered so you can only view the service charges.
- Practices that have payment by line item set to None will not have the ability to determine payments for services. Practices that have payment by line item set to Optional have the ability to determine payments for services. However, since itemizing is optional, payments for services may not all be recorded.
- To verify the setting for your practice, access Admin > General > Practice Preferences > Additional Preferences > Accounting > Payment by line item.
- Changing the settings will not affect past data posted, it will only determine the entry requirements of new data.
- To verify the setting for your practice, access Admin > General > Practice Preferences > Additional Preferences > Accounting > Payment by line item.

Additional Information
- If you typically only itemize your insurance payments, we recommend using the Deposit by Payor/Category report. This report provides the payor and the categories. The Item Receipts by Provider/Location report is not recommended due to the report detail is not broken down by category. Thus, if you find the payments were short, you would not be able to determine if it came from services or products.
